Where artistic beauty truly matters ™ is more than a slogan. It is my philosophy, as my collectors have found.
I have painted plein-air in Southern Utah, Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, and many scenic locations around Phoenix and Tucson Arizona.
To get the renditions that delight my collectors, my style of plein-air painting requires me to go to some extraordinary means to capture the scenes they most like. That is not a "poor me" statement but a reflection of my going the extra mile so my collectors get the artistic beauty that truly matters.
They and other lovers of the wild and treacherous Southwest have responded well to my work, as seen by my accomplishments below. They have taken delight in my renditions of the native chain fruit cholla, Indian Paintbrush, strawberry hedgehog, and distant mountain vistas.
I am the daughter of Les Clark, the first of the Nine Old Men who were the foundation of the Walt Disney Studio, and grew up following my dad around the animation studio with my sketchpad. But, I have been part of the High Sonoran Desert for many years, finding inspiration for my vibrant and textured paintings of the contemporary Southwest. My work is bold and spontaneous, yet gentle and elusive with passages of intricate splashes of turquoise, gamboge and vermillion.
My husband, Dennis, and I have decided to offer reproductions of my work so that more people can enjoy what my collectors have enjoyed. My note cards are available at mynotecardstore.com. Giclees are available at myartprintstore.com.
I hope you, as my many collectors do, find the qualities of my work very pleasing to you.
"I have known intimately the joy of exploring on horseback the mountain trails of the Superstitions and San Tan Mountains in Soutern Arizona with their warm winds, Javelina and the bounding desert jacks. Red tailed hawks soar above the brilliant Ocotillo and California springtime poppies. My paintings reflect the reverence I feel for this magnificent country and the riders who explore her winding and elusive trails."
